Our Commitment

Softy Panda Manufacturing ("Softy Panda," "we," "us," or "our") is deeply committed to environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical governance. As a hygiene products manufacturer headquartered in Panama City, Republic of Panama, we recognize that our operations have a direct impact on the environment and the communities we serve across Central America.

This Sustainability Policy outlines our comprehensive approach to minimizing environmental impact, promoting responsible resource management, and fostering community development. Our sustainability framework is guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Panama's National Environmental Authority (ANAM) regulations, and internationally recognized environmental management standards including ISO 14001.

We believe that sustainable manufacturing is not merely a corporate obligation but a strategic imperative. By integrating environmental stewardship into every facet of our operations — from raw material sourcing to final product delivery — we aim to set the standard for responsible hygiene manufacturing in the Central American region.

Environmental Stewardship

Environmental stewardship is the cornerstone of Softy Panda's operational philosophy. We are committed to conducting our manufacturing activities in a manner that protects and preserves the natural environment for current and future generations. Our environmental management system encompasses the following principles:

Pollution Prevention

We proactively identify and mitigate potential sources of pollution across all manufacturing processes, implementing best available technologies (BAT) to minimize emissions, effluents, and waste generation at the source.

Resource Efficiency

Our production systems are designed to maximize resource utilization and minimize waste. We continuously monitor and optimize raw material consumption, energy usage, and water intake per unit of production.

Regulatory Compliance

We comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations of the Republic of Panama, including General Environmental Law No. 41 of 1998, and maintain all required environmental permits and licenses for our manufacturing operations.

Continuous Improvement

We set measurable environmental objectives and targets, conduct regular environmental audits, and implement corrective actions to drive continuous improvement in our environmental performance.

Environmental Commitment: Softy Panda has committed to achieving carbon neutrality in our direct operations (Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions) by 2030, with a 50% reduction target by 2028 from our 2026 baseline.

Water Conservation

Water is a critical resource in paper manufacturing, and Softy Panda is committed to responsible water stewardship. Our water conservation program addresses the entire water lifecycle within our operations, from intake to treatment and discharge.

Closed-Loop Water Recycling System

Our manufacturing facility employs an advanced closed-loop water recycling system that captures, treats, and reuses process water. This system reduces our freshwater intake by up to 65% compared to conventional paper manufacturing operations. All recycled water undergoes multi-stage filtration and quality testing before reintroduction into the production cycle.

  • Multi-stage mechanical and biological water treatment
  • Real-time water quality monitoring and automated controls
  • Target: 75% water recycling rate by 2028

Wastewater Management

All wastewater generated by our facility is treated to meet or exceed the discharge standards established by Panama's Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE) under Executive Decree No. 75 of 2008. Our on-site wastewater treatment plant utilizes primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment processes to ensure that all discharged water meets the highest quality standards.

  • Regular third-party water quality testing and reporting
  • Zero discharge of untreated wastewater into natural waterways
  • Compliance with all Panamanian water quality regulations

Sustainable Sourcing

Softy Panda is committed to sourcing raw materials responsibly and ethically. Our sustainable sourcing policy ensures that the virgin pulp and recycled fibers used in our products are obtained from suppliers who adhere to the highest environmental and social standards.

1

Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certification

We prioritize sourcing virgin pulp from FSC-certified forests, ensuring that our raw materials come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. Our target is 100% FSC-certified or equivalent virgin pulp by 2028.

2

Recycled Content Integration

Our Eco-Friendly product line utilizes 100% post-consumer recycled materials. We are actively increasing the recycled content across our entire product portfolio, with a target of 40% recycled fiber content in our standard product lines by 2029.

3

Supplier Due Diligence

All raw material suppliers undergo rigorous environmental and social due diligence assessments. We require suppliers to demonstrate compliance with applicable environmental laws, labor standards, and anti-deforestation commitments. Suppliers found in violation of our standards are subject to corrective action plans or contract termination.

4

No-Deforestation Policy

Softy Panda maintains a strict no-deforestation policy. We do not source raw materials from suppliers engaged in illegal logging, conversion of natural forests, or destruction of High Conservation Value (HCV) areas. This policy is enforced through supply chain traceability systems and regular audits.

Waste Management

Softy Panda is committed to minimizing waste generation and maximizing material recovery across all operations. Our waste management strategy follows the internationally recognized waste hierarchy: prevent, reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover, with disposal as the last resort.

Waste Reduction

We implement lean manufacturing principles to minimize production waste. Our precision cutting and converting equipment reduces material waste to less than 5% of total raw material input, with continuous optimization efforts underway.

Recycling & Recovery

Production trimmings, off-spec products, and packaging waste are collected, sorted, and recycled. Paper waste is repulped and reintroduced into our Eco-Friendly product line. Non-paper recyclables are sent to certified recycling facilities.

Packaging Optimization

We are transitioning to 100% recyclable or compostable packaging materials by 2028. Our packaging design team continuously works to reduce material usage while maintaining product protection and shelf appeal.
